Aims
The PE department at Omagh High School aims to:
- Deliver the programme of study for PE whilst working towards pupils’ ability to plan, perform and evaluate in PE as set out in the Northern Ireland curriculum.
- Promote in each pupil a love of, interest in and knowledge of physical activity.
- Contribute to the physical development of each pupil through the promotion of skill acquisition and competence in a range of physical activities, such as: netball, hockey, football, rugby, basketball, gymnastics, athletics, cross country, swimming, tennis. Other physical activities are also included throughout the year.
Many of these activities are further developed through extra-curricular clubs, and pupils also have an opportunity to be selected to represent the school in various sports teams through inter-school competitions.
The PE department also offers G.C.S.E Physical Education as an option in year 11. It comprises of both practical and theoretical elements of Physical Education. Also in Years 13 and 14, pupils can study BTEC Level 3 in Sport.
