Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3 Maths Event

Forty P7 pupils from Omagh County Primary School joined with Omagh High School  year 9 Maths class for a maths fun and games morning with IZAK9.

Pupils were split into twelve groups in OHS Assembly Hall, where pupils were given packs of mini whiteboards, pens and erasers for working out the maths problems.

Firstly Mrs Stronge organised a mental maths activity with road signs to help pupils get us to know each other and to work together.

Then the fun started with IZAK9. After the  walls were built  with the digits 1 to 9,  Mrs Stronge from OCPS guided the pupils through two Eliminator tasks which was enjoyed by all.

Mrs Beattie from OHS then organised two QUEST activities – one on fractions, percentages and decimals and then an extension activity on algebra which we found quite challenging!

Lots of prizes were won and everyone enjoyed the activity morning.

 IZAK9 Activity Morning

On Thursday 9th March 2017 forty P7 pupils from Omagh County Primary School joined our year 9 Maths class for a joint Maths fun and games morning with IZAK9.

We split into twelve groups with two year nine pupils in each and four Omagh County pupils in our assembly hall. We had packs of mini whiteboards, pens and erasers for working out our answers.

To start off we had a mental maths activity with road signs to help us get us to know each other and to work together.

We then started our work with IZAK9. First we built a wall with the digits 1 to 9.  Mrs Stronge from OCPS had planned 2 Eliminator tasks which we all enjoyed.

Mrs Beattie then gave us a sheet of questions and we played 2 QUEST activities – one on fractions, percentages and decimals and then an extension activity on algebra.

We were all given a bottle of water each and could have a drink at the end of each activity. We had prizes of sweets and pencils at the end of each activity for first and second place.

Everyone enjoyed the activity morning and we are looking forward to further work with IZAK9.
