Year 14 pupils attend shared History conference at Omagh Library.
On Wednesday, 21st September 2022, Omagh High School’s A Level historian were treated to a skilled and highly entertaining shared history conference hosted in Omagh library on the topic of Ireland in 1922, ranging from Treaty to Civil War and culminating in Partition. The Year 14 History group, along with Head of Department, Mr. M. Duffy, were captivated by the presentations of Dr Russell Rees, Professor Jim McDermott and Dr Frank Costello. These distinguished historians helped shed light on a pivotal year in Irish history, a year of political and violent turmoil for both North and South and provided expert insight into the mindset and aspirations of some of the most prominent British and Irish leaders of the time.
Omagh High School would like to extend our gratitude to Pauline Clarke, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s good relations officer for organising this event and to Omagh Library for hosting and providing the excellent hospitality. We look forward to attending similar events in the near future.
