On Friday 28th March Omagh High School hosted a series of 'Explosive Food' workshops for KS3 pupils and P7 pupils from local primary schools. This event was facilitated by the Royal Institution who are the largest national provider of science shows for schools in the UK, with a wealth of experience in making science for students fun and engaging. The show was jam-packed with experiments, explosions and hands-on participation by the pupils. We delved into the incredible amount of energy contained in the food we eat with exciting chemistry and physics demonstrations. From fountains of fizzy coke to some rather gross demonstrations of what goes on in your digestive system, the demo-packed show was a memorable one for sure! Many thanks to Dr Rok from the Royal Institution for a fantastic day.
