Our U-14 football team signed off the season with an impressive display against Drumragh Integrated College on Friday 23rd February. After a goalless first half, the game sprang to life when captain Jake W scored what can only be described as a rasping drive into the top right-hand corner of the Drumragh goal with their shot-stopper a mere spectator as the ferociously hit piledriver arrowed its way into the postage stamp of the net. This was the captain’s fourth goal in two games for the U-14 team capping a highly memorable campaign for the leading marksman. The entire team put in a magnificent shift with the back five remaining solid throughout and the midfield and front men looking dangerous in the transitions. Strong performances on the day from Matthew R, Antoni Z, Calvin B and Finn H but the two stand out performers for Omagh High School were Jayden F and Jake W with the goal the only thing separating the two boys for the man of the match award.
The U-14 football McMullan Shield will return again next January where the Year 9 and 10 boys will seek to build on this campaign, particularly their final two matches of the season where the performances were outstanding.
(OHS U-14 football squad with assistant coach for the day Jake McKinley who is currently on placement in the P.E. Department).
