Omagh High School’s U-14 football team were back in action again in the McMullan Shield on Monday 13th February edging out Erne Integrated College in an 8-goal thriller at the Lakeland Forum in Enniskillen. The away side went into this one buoyant following their excellent performance in their last outing against Fivemiletown College.
Captain of the side, William E was instrumental yet again, leading by example with an outstanding performance in central midfield. Harry C’s perseverance on the right wing led to Omagh High’s first goal, finished off by the excellent Matthew McF, who notched for the third time in two matches for the school. Omagh High School were without influential striker Bence F for this one which led to a change in position for Jake W who played as a number 9. Jake’s skill and top class finishing proved too much for the Erne defence to handle, scoring a truly breath taking four goals to seal a well-deserved win. Brilliant performances from Jack F yet again at the heart of the defence and Alfie C at full back. Man of the match today was unquestionably Jake W who led from the front and put on a masterclass in finishing rarely seen at this level receiving plaudits not only from his teammates and coach but also from the opposition coach. That is now four points accumulated from the last two matches for the boys showing they are most definitely moving in the right direction.
Next up for Omagh High School is an away trip to Drumragh Integrated College on 8th March.
