Sixth Form Team Building Event

Sixth Form team building event at Gortin Glen Forest Park, 1-9-22.

On Thursday 1st September 2022, Omagh high School’s Year 13 pupils took part in a teambuilding event in the Gortin Glen Forest Park. Pupils participated in a number of enrichment activities before advancing to the summit of Mullaghcarn to encounter one of the three famous Sperrin Mountain dwelling giants.

Pupils learned about the flora and fauna in the area and the wildlife throughout their orienteering exercise led by Head of Year Mr. M. Duffy and Assistant Pastoral Leader, Mr. Kelly and ably assisted by classroom assistants Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Boggs.

The temperate weather allowed for magnificent panoramic views from Northern Ireland’s 25th highest peak, standing at an impressive 542 metres from which the pupils could spot Malin Head, the most northerly point in Ireland from the north-westerly vista and even catch a glimpse of Ulster’s highest mountain, the Slieve Donard from over 100km away from the eastern vista.

The pupils conducted themselves magnificently throughout the day and were more than willing to take part in each of the various tasks on offer and should take huge pride in their accomplishments. The group who just edged the win after the final group activity and took the 1st place prize comprised of Rebecca Clarke, Lucie Kerr and Helena Caldwell. A huge congratulations to the girls who scored an unsurmountable 100% overall.

Mr. Duffy and the extended Sixth Form pastoral team would like to wish the Year 13 and Year 14 cohort all the best for the coming year and look forward to working closely with the group in order to maximise their performance potential.
