On Wednesday 12 February Omagh High School U16 rugby team hosted Breifne College from Cavan in the last 16 of the Ulster High School’s Plate. The game began very even and close with both teams making little territorial gains in either half for the first 20 mins. After some excellent tackling and forward play, Omagh High finally broke through the Breifne defence to score the opening try through Rueben L. Then just on the stroke of half time Omagh scored a second try through Ben C and duly converted by Henry C to leave the score 12-0 at halftime. Omagh once again started the second half brightly with some excellent passages of play, which resulted in two more tries for Omagh through Jack C and Henry C with one more conversion to leave the final score 24-0.
An excellent all-round team performance against a very strong Breifne team. The boys should be extremely proud of their performance and we now look forward to the quarter final within the next few weeks.
